Coyote Chasing a Grizzly Bear
This is a beautiful hike but the one amazing thing that I saw was a coyote chasing a grizzly bear. The video of the coyote and grizzly is a little shaky because they were a long ways off so I was using full zoom on my camera while trying to keep them in the frame. Yellowstone National Park and the Yellowstone ecosystem is an amazing place in the backcountry this time of year.

Grizzly Encounter with Mother and 5 Cubs - Yellowstone National Park
Просмотров 150 тыс.День назад
This video contains an extremely rare encounter with a mom grizzly and 5 cubs. This is my video recorded on June 5, 2024 at the Specimen Ridge/Agate Creek trail junction. I don't think there is any other video of a grizzly with 5 cubs in Yellowstone National Park.

The Magic Grizzly Bear on the Bighorn Trail - Yellowstone National Park

Hiking the Bighorn trail early morning is always amazing. If you go slow and quietly you almost always spot a lot of amazing wildlife. This grizzly is magic in the way it seemed to reappear 20 minutes after the first sighting. This was a beautiful spring day in Gods beautiful creation. Blacktail Trail and Yellowstone River
Просмотров 6 тыс.Месяц назад
This 15 mile day hike starts at the Blacktail trailhead in Yellowstone National Park. This is the time of year to do this hike because it is not too hot and everything is turning green. Later in the summer it will be hot and dry in this area. It is so nice to get out and away from everything and enjoy peace and quiet in Gods beautiful creation.
Garnet Hill loop - Yellowstone National Park

This is one of the first hikes that you can do in Yellowstone that will be mostly clear of snow. I also saw the first bear tracks. These are not great tracks, but I think they look more like black bear tracks than grizzly tracks. One thing to keep in mind about tracks this time of year is that they may actually be tracks that were made last fall and frozen into the mud all winter.
Yellowstone off-trail snowshoeing to the Daly Creek cabin.
Просмотров 4,1 тыс.3 месяца назад
This is a nice day hike that you can do in the spring and summer. I am doing it now to see if there is any evidence of grizzly activity in this area. But in the summer you will have a good chance of seeing a bear in this area. This hike started off at about 10 degrees below zero Fahrenheit which makes for good snowshoeing. It took about 6.5 hours to do this 7 mile hike. Daly creek is in Yellows...

Yellowstone River Hike - January 30, 2024

This is a hike down to the Yellowstone River on January 30. There is very little snow right now. No wildlife around but this is a great place to hike if you don't want snow or you don't want to worry about grizzly bears. This area does have a lot of cougars and I do show some cougar tracks. I also show the two types of evergreen (other than Juniper) trees that you will see along the river. Note...

I just recently came across your beautiful videos and am truly enjoying them. I especially love all the bear encounters you've had. Your quiet thoughtful approach to being around them in their habitat is very impressive to say the least. It's rather a nail biting experience on this end for sure. I wonder, is it possible for you to indicate in your films the names/identities of these animals and birds we are seeing? Honestly, I don't know what I'm watching by there species names lots of the time. I can see it's a bird of some kind, a deer of some kind, etc. I can certainly understand if it's lots of additional work. I have great curiosity about the animals we're seeing.

This one made me laugh Stan, no doubt the coyote had pups in the area. She knew just how to irritate the Grizzlies enough and not get into a real fight. I assume that was a 2 or 3 y/o Grizzly too not to long booted from mama. An older bigger grizzly might have said the heck with this and quickly turned the tables.

A good job you listened to your intuition and common sense and 1) left to go home and 2) changed your route and chose the safest way out, not taking riskis. Yogis say: all animals have something to protect them with. Tigers have claws, but humans have intuition. Trust your gut feeling, trust intuition. It might save your life.

I have observed coyote grizzly behavior like that before. It quite resembles a game of tag. But is it? Maybe it is indeed an attempt to guide the grizzly away. Or perhaps the coyote just wanted a playmate.

That was wild to see the coyote and the bear playing. it certainly appeared that they were enjoying each other’s company. I mean, if the bear wanted to would kill the coyote easy. I’m perplex as to that dynamic. It’s a shame we couldn’t see it clearer. You need to get an iPhone 15. The camera has excellent zoom & steady video. It can do a lot of things.
